Thought on Pou Ten
The word pou seems to be originated from a Japanese word, honpou, of “Jiyu honpou de are”, meaning “Be free-spirited”.
Now this group is a 20 year-old youth born in 1996.
Looking back at the path of Pou, I can see that it has developed a flexible community; in other words, members are individually active; however, each of them has a sense of belongings to the group.
Such individuality with togetherness is important, because it was the mantra of our citizen activity at the time when Pou ten was born.
Individual sprits gradually pave their own paths, while influencing each
other.
Pou without a fixed location has formed a spiritual colony and is active in “commons”.(common pasture), to put it in the in the language today.
The exhibitions in Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art and NY act as the central stations where members reunite and “banquets” are taking place, synchronized with Art spirit of Tochihara.
Now the destination of Pou Ten is cross-boundary.
